RE-CITE

Linguistic Recordings

RE-CITE is a linguistic evaluation system designed to assist in the diagnosing of speech disorders in children. The next generation in speech pathology, RE-CITE integrates the science of speech pathology with state-of-the-art technologies in artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning.

RE-CITE: Consider the process many children and their families face today in diagnosing speech disorders. Health insurance and/or public schools oftentimes cover only a single speech diagnosis appointment, and if the therapist misdiagnoses the child, the child may not receive the critical services and support they need for long-term success. In many diagnosis appointments, a child is placed in a cold, unfamiliar clinical environment with a speech pathologist with whom they have little rapport or comfort.

RE-CITE takes a different approach by engaging the child in a more familiar naturalistic play-based environment. Each child engages in Recording Elicitation (RE) activities through an immersive and interactive experience in the presence of a speech pathologist. Each child plays a game on a computer in which they engage directly with the AI engine by providing recordings, or speech samples. In short, they play a fun, interactive speech game while the speech pathologist listens.

How It Works: RE-CITE processes speech samples provided by each child through its advanced AI engine. It then evaluates the intelligibility of the speech samples using a scientific process known as Direct Magnitude Estimation (DME). A highly detailed score card on the intelligibility of the child is generated, which a speech pathologist can reference in making their diagnosis. Scores and intelligibility percentiles are provided along eight dimensions of speech intelligibility.
